Hack The Pack: Make Moving Day Stress-Free

You’ve found a new place to call home. In preparation for your move, you feel you’ve checked off a never-ending checklist. You’ve decluttered your home. You’ve removed every distraction you can think of. You’ve contacted the utility companies and provided your move date and new address. You’ve done it all. Then comes moving day, and you realize…you haven’t done it all.

Moving is simply not fun. There’s really no way around it. Although it’s never fun, moving can be A LOT more tolerable and A LOT less stressful, and it all starts with packing. We want unpacking to be as stress-free as possible, so here are “9 Incredible Useful Packing Hacks” from The Spruce to help you “hack the pack”:

1. Rent plastic moving boxes
2. Compress bulky items by hacking a vacuum space bag
3. Number your boxes and create a detailed spreadsheet listing the contents of each box
4. Use a toothpick to mark where to peel your roll of shipping tape
5. Use a paper shredder to create your own packing material
6. Use labeled Ziplock bags to make your move transparent
7. Make post-move problem solving kits of items you’ll need access to immediately
8. Use kitchen plastic wrap to prevent packed bottles from leaking
9. Use kitchen trash bags as garment bags
