May 2019 Employee of the Month – Ted Bryant

A couple of weeks ago, our CEO, James H. VanSteenhouse, said to us, “Often times it’s easy to take people for granted.  Maybe it’s a co-worker, a partner, a parent or even a close friend.  We are so often caught up in our destination that we forget to appreciate the journey, especially the goodness of the people we meet on the way.  Appreciation can make a day, even change a life.  Your willingness to put it into works is all that is necessary.”  He then asked us who we wanted to show our appreciation to in the organization.  Within minutes, the emails started rolling in.

Ted Bryant, Business Development Manager out of Auburn, AL, was the clear choice.  Ted is a person others are honored to not only call a co-worker, but a friend.  He’s thoughtful and considerate.  He cares about his colleagues and their well-being.  He takes the time out of his day to ensure others know that they’re thought of, and he’s always there to lend a helping hand or an ear to anyone who needs one.  For these reasons, and many more, Ted has been selected as InterLinc Employee of the Month – May 2018!

When asked about Ted, Director of Marketing, Holly Fairburn said, “Having worked with Ted for almost three years now, I can say that he is not just a co-worker to me, but a dear friend.  I’m pretty certain there are a lot of people at InterLinc that feel the same way.

Ted and I have been on many journeys together over the past three years at InterLinc and he’s always been there to work hard, work late, lend an ear, or have a laugh.  He’s one of the kindest people I know.  Although he’s younger than most of us, I feel like he’s a big brother to everyone he meets and I feel like he’s a big brother to each of us that have the pleasure of working by his side.

He calls me and the team in Huntsville at least once a week to check in on us.  He can sense when your day isn’t the brightest and he’ll take the time to make that follow-up call to ensure you’re feeling better.  He remembers everything!  Birthdays, anniversaries, doctor appointments…literally everything.  He calls to check on you, to see if you need anything or to see how your appointment went.  There have been so many times that I’ve totally forgotten to ask Ted how he’s doing when I talk to him, but he never complains.

Like you said, we get caught up in things and forget to tell someone how thankful we are to call them a friend or how much we appreciate them, so I wanted to take the time to tell you how much I appreciate Ted as a co-worker, and a friend, and I know SO many others do as well.  We are very fortunate to have him by our side because there are few like him.”

Amy Church, Loan Originator, added, “Ted is always asking how he can help with work, and outside of work, and is there when you need someone to talk to.  He has a great attitude and always thinks of others!  I can’t think of anyone that deserves this more than Ted.  He is an asset to our company, a great person, parent and friend!”

Shannon Fortner, Regional Vice President, told us “I could go on for days about the type of person Ted is.  We’ve been together for a long time and he’s become like a brother to me over the years.  Ted is someone that I know I can always count on, who has been by my side through thick and thin (literally lol), and he truly is one of the best guys I know.  He cares about everyone and is so selfless.  He worries about everyone but himself, and you just don’t find people like that anymore.  I try to remember to tell him how much I appreciate him, but I get caught up with whatever we all have going on and forget to tell him like I should.  This is my opportunity to let him know just how much I appreciate him and how much our relationship truly means to me.

And finally, Kim Chenoweth, Loan Originator, said “Ted is a true gem.  He wears many hats, but never hesitates to take time out of his busy schedule to check on others just to see how they are or if there is anything that he can help with.  He works hard to help new offices/employees in order to make their transition smooth while still keeping up with all the rest of us to be sure we are getting what we need for support.  He follows up to be sure that things were taken care of that you needed!  That in itself is truly a hard trait for a person to maintain.  He is a genuine person that loves his family and you can see it when his eyes light up when he is telling us about something they have done recently.  I am honored to call him my friend and I know I always have someone that I can reach out to when in need.  I appreciate him more than he knows!”

Ted is truly a special person and we are very fortunate to have people like him within our organization.  It’s clear that he is a bright light in many lives, and in many ways.  We know that light will continue to shine brightly upon InterLinc as long as Ted is around.  We appreciate you more than you know, Ted!  Thank you for being such a positive, caring person and thank you for spreading your spirit throughout InterLinc.
