Employee of the Month – April Smitherman

“We are not a team because we work together.  We are a team because we respect, trust and care for each other.” – James H. VanSteenhouse

In the words of our CEO, Mr. VanSteenhouse, “The key elements in working together are how to deal with change, how to deal with conflict, and how to reach our potential…the needs of the team are best met when we meet the needs of individuals persons.”

April Smitherman, Processor out of Birmingham, AL, is the player everyone wants on their team.  April is strong and dependable.  She is adaptable and always willing to give 110%.  She makes NO excuses and is always there to lend a helping hand.  For these reasons, April has been selected as InterLinc Employee of the Month – September 2018!

Here is what Shannon Fortner, Regional Manager out of Huntsville, AL, had to say about April, “April is always ready to step up to the task at hand and do whatever is asked of her with ZERO complaints, which is so unusual with the kind of work load that she has.  She has maintained one of the biggest pipelines of most processors while traveling with our team to train, as well as contributed in several tasks requested of her relative to projects currently in the works.  I appreciate April so much…her attitude alone is deserving.”

Gina Jones, SE Region Operations Manager out of Montgomery, AL, said “April was asked this summer to help train new employees in the Dallas and Oklahoma branches.  She did not hesitate to say yes.  As she aided in the training of new employees, she was processing her pipeline of over 30 loans.  Not once did she complain about processing her loans at night or during the breaks in training…and not once did she miss a closing due to the training.  I know her enthusiasm and positive attitude that she showed throughout the training was infectious to the new employees.  I only hear great things about April…I truly believe April exemplifies respect for her co-workers and borrowers, honesty in communicating to others, trusting in InterLinc’s mission and loyalty to InterLinc to do the best job possible.”

Ted Bryant, Branch Relationship Manager out of Auburn, AL, noted, “April is the epitome of what it means to be a team player.  No matter the task, she is always willing to lend a helping hand.  She is knowledgeable, hard-working, enjoyable to work with, and above all…..selfless.  Whether it is processing a file or, as I have had the opportunity to witness, training processors new to InterLinc, she always goes above and beyond.  Her personality and energy are contagious, which goes a long way in the stressful environment in which we all work in on a day-to-day basis.  Whether it is on a phone call, or in person, I never have to worry about “What April am I going to get today?”  I know with her, it will always be “How can I help?” or “How can I be part of the solution?”…and she will always do it with the utmost dedication to getting things done right.”

James Durham, Regional Manager out of Auburn, AL, said, “I don’t get the pleasure of working as closely with April as do the Loan Officers, Underwriters, Closers, Gina Jones and Shannon Fortner on a daily basis.  However, without question when involved with any of the before mentioned people and talking about the amazing “team” players we have at InterLinc, April’s name is sure to come up every time!  She has never hesitated when asked to travel to onboard a new branch or Loan Officer, she consistently carries the work of two, AND she does it all with a great attitude as well as top of the class performance!  No doubt, she is an amazing asset to this company and exemplifies what TEAMWORK is all about at InterLinc!  We are lucky to have her and I hope she gets duly recognized for what she brings to the organization day in and day out.”

As you can see, April MORE than deserves this honor.  She is the type of team member everyone wishes were on their team.  Our appreciation for April and what she brings to our team cannot be expressed enough.  Congratulations April and thank you for everything you do!
